Standing out to support mental health… one fro at a time!
The “grow the fro” idea was born last year with intent on fundraising all summer but was put on hold for obvious reasons. A year later, the calling has returned and in full force. And to be honest, the timing couldn’t be better. It gave me time to actually… #grothefro!
It’s super easy, I grow a huge head of hair and you donate a buck. And if you feel like supporting the team, encourage someone you know to do the same! All proceeds donated to CMHA Elgin-Middlesex.
The official launch party was going to be held outside today at Out of the Blue Seafood Market in Bayfield, Ontario and we were going to feed you, spread the word and maybe even dance like goofs. Unfortunately, this cannot be… at least not this weekend. So I am going ahead as planned but with just a digital launch until we can do it up in style – hopefully next month.
However, the plan is for the initiative to live forever! I am teaming up with local businesses to help spread the word by hitting the streets… and tables! The branding was designed to speak to a younger generation with hopes of starting a conversation now, that could eventually lead to breaking the cycle.
Using conventional print materials for in-store marketing (sourced from a local printer!) and social media to keep the brand in your face. Growing the fro takes time, and so does healing. Let’s get the ball rolling one hair at a time. Even if it’s grey.
Grow your own fro or support someone else standing out to make a difference!
